Approved Document L1A (2013): Conservation of fuel and power in new dwellings

Effective from 6th April 2014, this Approved Document details the minimum energy performance requirements for all New Dwellings within England & Wales as detailed within the Building Regulations 2010.

The document provides legal information in relation to the Building Regulations, as well as technical guidance on the minimum design standards required and details of how compliance can be demonstrated through the provision of SAP Calculations, U-Value Calculations, Air Tightness Testing (Pressure Testing) and the issuing of On Construction Energy Performance Certificates (OCEPCs).

Approved Document L1B 2010: Conservation of fuel and power in existing dwellings (Incorperating 2010, 2011 & 2013 Amendments)

Effective from 1st October 2010 with various subsequent amendments, this Approved Document details the minimum energy efficiency requirements for all Existing Dwellings within England & Wales as detailed within the Building Regulations 2010.

The document provides legal information in relation to the Building Regulations, as well as technical guidance on the minimum design standards required for extensions to existing dwellings and for the creation of new dwellings as a result of a change of use.

Guidance is also provided in respect to the maximum permitted glazing levels within new extensions along with provisions for demonstrating compliance via the Design Flexibility criterion where this threshold is exceeded. This includes the supply of SAP Calculations for the extension and original dwelling (also referred to as Heat Loss Assessments).

The document provides legal information in relation to the Building Regulations, as well as technical guidance on the minimum design standards required and details of how compliance can be demonstrated through the provision of a SBEM Calculation & BRUKL Report, U-Value Calculations, Air Tightness Testing (Pressure Testing) and the issuing of Energy Performance Certificates.

Effective from 1st October 2010 with various subsequent amendments, this Approved Document details the minimum energy efficiency requirements for all Existing Buildings other than dwelling within England & Wales as detailed within the Building Regulations 2010.

The document provides legal information in relation to the Building Regulations, as well as technical guidance on the minimum design standards required for small extensions and refurbishment works.
